Francis A. Goulet, 96, a resident of the Chippewa Manor and formerly of Colfax, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Chippewa Manor, Chippewa Falls.

He was born Aug. 13, 1905, in the town of Wheaton, the son of Homer and Mary (Langevin) Goulet.

Francis married Marie "Mamie" Flietner on July 16, 1929, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls.

He was a buttermaker at Townline Creamery, hauled milk at Albertville and Colfax Creameries, and he was a board member for Little Elk Creek (Rada) School. Francis bought a farm in Albertville, bought a school bus and transported children to St. John's Parochial School for nine years, was a stone mason and did carpentry work for many years helping build many barns in the community. He was a foster parent for Catholic Charities, was the treasurer for the town of Howard for 16 years, and served on the ASCS Board. He was a night watchman at the Chippewa Woolen Mill, served on the committee for St. Joseph's Hospital Building Funds, was active in Howard-Wheaton 4-H and Wisconsin Farmers Union for many years.
