Funeral services for Roberta M. Barnes, age 86, of Ogdensburg will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug 13, 2013) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Laurena Will officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held also on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. "Berta" passed away early Sunday morning at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving is her twin sister, Rita Crawford; a nephew, David Yost; a niece, Lorraine Yost; great-nieces and nephews Stephen and Ashley Bogart, Lisa and Kenny Chase all of Ogdensburg, Jamie, Angie and Chad Yost of Rochester; along with several great-great nieces.

A brother, Gerald Barnes, predeceased her.

Roberta was born on November 28, 1926 in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Carroll & Goldie (Brown) Barnes. She attended schools in Ogdensburg and worked as a switch board operator for A. Barton Hepburn Hospital for 23 years, and retired in 1984.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg where she also taught Sunday school for many years, and enjoyed reading romance novels, camping, collecting owls, playing cards, her dog Chico, the St. Lawrence River and spending time with her loving sister.
