LONG-TIME MANAGER of PURDUE LANES DIES
Lawrence Bernard "Larry" Mackey, 68, died unexpectedly at 11:45 AM Friday [June 25,1981] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, following ill-health since last December. A native and life resident of Lafayette, he was educated in local schools. In 1946, at Indianapolis, he married Virginia G. Gregory, who survives.

Mr. Mackey was manager of Purdue University Memorial Union Bowling Lanes for 41 years, retiring in 1976. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church; Moose Lodge 1529, where he was past governor; American Legion Post 11 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1154. A life member of 700 Club of Bowling, he also was elected to Lafayette Bowling Association Hall of Fame, served as past president of Council of Clubs, and was financial officer at Loomers Club.

Surviving with his wife are a stepdaughter, Alice Mae Starkey of Terre Haute; one brother, Francis Mackey of Elwood; and one sister, Rosemary (Mrs. John) Kerr of Lafayette. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
