Suggested edit: Willa Walz Sadzkowski age 88 of Laurel Avenue passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon August 23, 2008 in Little Falls Hospital. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on January 4, 1920 in Bethel, CT daughter of the late William and Frances Becker Norman. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Little Falls. In 1943 she was united in marriage with Charles W. Walz Jr. in Nashville, TN. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty-five years until his passing on August 28, 1968.
For over twenty years she worked for the Joy Taylor Dress Company in Mohawk, retiring in 1975 as Plant Manager.
On December 14, 1974 she married Frederick Sadzkowski in Little Falls. A caring and fulfilling relationship, he preceded her in death on April 26, 1995.
To all who knew her they will remember her warm smile and helpful manner. She loved her family, her home and her pets. In her leisure time she enjoyed ceramics, sewing and knitting. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her two sons, Charles W Walz III, Michael N. Walz and his wife Pamela all of East Herkimer, two step-sons and their wives, Fred and Bonnie Sadzkowski of Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph and Elaine Sadzkowski of Herkimer, two step-daughters and their husbands, Yvonne and Donald Louis of Newport, Debbie and Gary Bates of the town of Ohio, four grandchildren, Charles W. Walz IV and his wife Nicole, Julie Whittaker and her husband Kevin, Michael Walz Jr., Kayla Walz, four great grandchildren along with several step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husbands Charles and Frederick she was predeceased by a son James G. Walz in 1991.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street Herkimer. The Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
