Peggy Ruth Foster

Mrs. Peggy Ruth Foster, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the home of her sister. Mrs. Foster was born in Johnson City and lived most of her life in Jonesborough.

She was the daughter of the late Dewey L. & Ola Jackson Rush. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was also preceded in death by her husband, B.R. Foster.

She was a faithful member and worker at Jonesborough Presbyterian Church since 1948. She taught Bible school, worked with youth, serving them meals on Sunday afternoon, served on the flower, food and kitchen committees where she prepared hundred of meals.

Mrs. Foster attended Johnson City Public Schools and graduated from Science Hill High School. She retired after 30 years with U.S. Washington County ASCA Office (U.S. Department of Agriculture). She was a member of the Professional Women, Civnettes, Eastern Star Jonesborough Chapter 352, a lifetime member of Jonesborough Civic Trust now known as Heritage Alliance, Director of State of Tennessee TAS and a 50 year member of the Good Will Circle.

Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Ann Hoss, Jonesborough; special caregivers and nephew, Tim Hoss and wife, Janice; nephews and nieces, Tommy Hoss, Mark Hoss, Amy Hoss, Steven Rush, Lora Rush, Rebecca Steel, Dawn Rush, David Rush, Danny Rush and Latha Sullivan; several great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Norma Rush and Jeanette Rush; special friends, Alice Haws, Barbara Jilton, Bill & Charlene Allen, Pam Alexander and Rebecca Alexander.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Harrison and Jackie Bailey for their wonderful love and care.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Alan Huff and great-nephew, Rev. T.J. Hoss officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service. Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Monte Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Rex Renfro, Bob Browning, Jerry Foster, Kelly Wolfe, Bob Williams, Jimmy Neil Smith, David Miller, Taylor Alexander and Howard Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Cash, Jim Rhein, Sam Mitchell, Bob Clark, Bob Riddle, Bob Shur, Harold Comer and Bill Dykes.
