Lianne Brich Hopkins Conger, wife of the late Clement E. Conger, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2004. Mrs. Conger was the daughter of the late Mrs. John Jay Hopkins and Mr. Hopkins who was chairman and president of General Dynamics Corporation. Mrs. Conger was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1918. She attended Potomac School and graduated from The Brearley School. Thereafter, she attended Harvard Radcliffe and received a BA from George Washington University. Mr. And Mrs. Conger resided in Alexandria, VA for 45 years. In 1996, they moved to Arlington, VA until they retired to Delray Beach, Florida in 2002. Mrs. Conger was a member of Junior League, board member of the Northern Virginia Cancer Society, Alexandria Performing Arts Group and vice regent of Kenmore. She was particularly proud of her service with Planned Parenthood. Mr. Conger was the former curator of the White House and State Department Diplomatic Reception Rooms from 1961-1992. He passed away on January 11, 2004. The Congers were married for 55 years. They are survived by 3 children, William, Jay and Shelley and 2 grandchildren, Zoe and Nathan, daughter and son of Jay and Nadege Conger. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Scobee-Ireland-Potter Funeral Home, 300 Northeast Fifth Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483. A private family entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA.
