Gordon was born November 24, 1929, in Morristown, New Jersey, to William W. and Florence Alexander. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. Gordon worked as a maintenance supervisor for various box companies for 39 years, retiring in 1992.
Gordon was preceded in death by his son, John Alexander in 2006. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Alexander; two sons, Stephen Alexander, Shawnee, Kansas, and Chris (JoAnn) Alexander, Kansas City, Kansas; daughter-in law, Debbie Alexander, Independence, Missouri; sister, Joyce (Richard) Schneider, Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Edward (Mary Ann) Alexander, North Carolina and John “Jack” W. Alexander, Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass and Visitation
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home, where a Rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery.
