A German biophysicist from Berlin, Hans-Gerhardt Fischer, and Regina married on Nov 4, 1933 in Moscow, they divorced in 1945; she met her second husband, Cyril Pustan, in England in 1961. Her son, world chess champion Robert James Fischer, is sometime thought to be the son of Dr. Paul Nemenyi of Chicago, where Bobby was born during WWII.
Regina spoke seven or eight languages.
As a physician, she was concerned about the dangerous health effects of above-ground nuclear testing, and joined Bertrand Russell's group, the Congress on Nuclear Disarmament.
