Harvey Columbus Chastain was born 17 March 1894, the son of Absolem Chastain and Francis America Fox (although her death certificate says her father was James Queen and her mother was Stacy Fox.) Harvey was married 23 August 1916 to Nora Beckler, daughter of Daniel B. Beckler and Nevada Humphreys. He and Nora had a daughter, Lena, 29 September 1917 who married Clay Campbell and lived in Madisonville, Tennessee. She died 2 August 2003 and is buried in Haven Hill Memorial Garden.

Nora had two more babies, Edna was born April 13, 1919 and died April 26, 1919, and another was stillborn February 20, 1920. Nora also died 26 February 1920 6 days after the baby, and all are buried in Grassy Creek Cemetery.

In 1922, Harvey married Mattie Dilbeck and they had ten children: 5 sons, Parks, H. C., Jr., Tommy, Everett, and Douglas; 5 daughters Mrs. J. G. Grubbs (Katherine), Hildreth, Charlotte, Betty Jo, Patricia Ann.

Harvey died 20 September 1947 and his obituary in the Blue Ridge newspaper listed a brother V. A. still living, as well as 4 sisters, Mrs. Ed Galloway, Mrs. Charles Doss, Mrs. Riley Smith, Mrs. Jim Rogers.
