James Leslie Bolling, son of James Carter Bolling (1824-1863) and Mary Cecilia [Raynal] Bolling, was born on June 26th 1856 near Carter in Ashley County, Arkansas.

On February 20th 1883, James married Miss Anna Belle Manees, daughter of James Whitsett Manees and the former Julia Anna Taylor Shore. They had the following known children:
Percy Leslie (1884-1958)
Napoleon Falls (1888-1934)
Erskin Carter (1890-1891)

After James died on March 30th 1892, Anna Belle married James Oliver Cooper.

James Leslie Bolling was buried at Parkdale Cemetery next to his infant son, Erskin Carter Bolling; who had died the year before.
