Alice Josephine was the daughter of Mary Jane Sinclair and man with the last name of Clark. Her father died before she was one year old (He most likely died during the Civil War and his burial location has not been located) and Mary Jane remarried Martin Van Buren Dailey who along with Mary Jane, raised Alice.

Alice's first husband was William Norman Holt, whom she married in 1883 in Saline County, Nebraska. They had one daughter Maud.

Alice's second husband was Edward Lewis Johnson, whom she married in 1887 in Crawford county, Kansas. To this union was born eight known children: Florence Isabel, Nellie, William Claud, Neoma Ruth "Nelma", Joseph Hyrum, Samuel Nephi, Rachel Elizabeth, and Mabel Minnie.

Alice's third husband was James Kinnaird, whom she married in 1909 in Davis County, Utah.

Her burial was recorded in the Utah State History Burials Database.

Although Alice's death certificate lists the year of her birth as 1870, this seems unlikely based on other events in her life.
