BROOKFIELD — Mary Jane Kalmanson (nee Smith), 85, born in Chippewa Falls on May 26, 1922, quietly passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Franciscan Woods, Brookfield, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

The Late Mrs. Mary Jane Kalmanson of Milwaukee is survived by: children, Ann Jane, Roberta, David, Barbara, Michael (Steve), James, Philippe, Siobhan and Tina; brother, Bart and his family; sister, Barbara (Smith) Brenton and her family; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jerome; children, Jerome Jr., Maria, and Lisa; and sister, Ethel (Smith) Metzenbauer.

She is fondly remembered as a noble woman of devout Catholic faith, a proud registered nurse and a kind and gentle friend to many. She is loved and will be missed very much. Rest in eternal peace, your suffering is over.

A memorial service will be held beginning with a 10 a.m. vigil on Friday, April 25 and 11 a.m. Mass at St. Florian's Catholic Church, 1233 S. 45th St., Milwaukee. Final resting place will be next to her husband, Mac and Maria at Hope Cemetery. There will be a 10 a.m. Mass on Monday, May 26 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls.
