Actor. Born in London, England, he was a popular theatre performer when he came to America and started working at Hal Roach Studios in a series of short comedy films in the 1920s. With Hal Roach Studios, he appeared in "Do Detectives Think?" (1927), "Sailors Beware" (1927), "Sugar Daddies" (1927) and "Golf Widows" (1928). As veteran type cast performer he appeared in a 100 films from 1927 to 1949, such as "Sailor's Luck" (1933), "Mutiny on the Bounty" (1935), "Devil's Island" (1935), "Reap the Wild Wind" (1942) and "Adam' s Rib" (1949). He died at age 84 in Los Angeles, California.
