Elbridge G. PAIGE was a very prolific writer, under the assumed name of "Dow, Jr.," and author of the popular series of "Patent Sermons," which first appeared in the "New York Sunday Mercury," of which he was editor and publisher, and were afterwards published in three volumes; meeting with reverses in New York he, wife Margaret & daughters moved to California. He died in San Francisco 4 Dec 1859. Patent Sermons, published by Peterson & Bros, Philadelphia sold in US and England. He was a writer for the "SUN" newspaper in San Francisco, CA wrote sermons and was type-setter for the San Francisco newspaper "GOLDEN ERA", issue of Nov. 13th 1859 contained Dow Jr.'s last sermon. He was paid $5,900 since May 1855 by the paper. Out of this he purchased two vara lots in San Francisco. His wife died in 1857. His only child in care of Sisters of Mercy for some time before his death. He paid half the expense for her education. Obituary in papers:

Their daughter is Ellen Elizabeth PAGE ZWICKER. Memorial # 115174439. She married Frederick Zwicker in San Francisco, California 22 Oct 1873. Elbridge is a descendant of John Howland & Elizabeth Tilley, passengers on the Mayflower in 1620.
