MURPHYSBORO - Robert "Lee" Bilderback, 93, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:55 am, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the VA Veterans Home and Rehab Center in Marion, IL where he had been a resident for years..

Robert Lee was born in Ava, IL on March 2, 1920, the son of Hiram G. and Pearl B. Guy Bilderback. He married Dorothy F. Reiman on June 22, 1946 at Ava. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2007. Lee lived in Joliet where he worked at Caterpillar as a Welder for 30 years. He returned to Ava when he retired. He was a Veteran of the US Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served as a Deacon at the church in Joliet as well as in Ava. Lee was kind to everyone he met and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Lee is survived by one son, Rick (Paula) Bilderback of Murphysboro; two grandchildren, Dan Kambic of New Port Richey, FL and Christopher Bilderback of Iron Mountain, MN; two step grandchildren, Frank Blackford of Elkville, IL and Shawnie Porter of Elkville; six great grandchildren, Blake, Max, Cyrus, Kristian, Tori and Matt; one sister, Hazel Sullivan of Murphysboro; one brother, Willis (Eddie) Bilderback of Eugene, OR; and one brother-in-law, Kent Hollilday of Ava; and he was blessed with many nieces and nephews most living in and around the Ava and Murphysboro area.

Lee was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Burial will follow there. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 am until 10:45 am Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Billy Graham Foundation.
