The Stonington record of the marriage misstates Margaret's surname as Cleveland whereas the Canterbury Church record of the marriage correctly states her maiden name as Fish. Gideon Cobb and "Margrett his wife" were admitted to the Stonington 1st Church on Oct. 19, 1718, and dismissed to the church at the "Canada" Society [aka Hampton, Conn.] June 12, 1726, where Margaret was admitted to the church at Hampton on July 31, 1726. Both were admitted to the church at Canterbury, Conn. in 1737.
Gideon Cobb and Margaret Fish had two known children, the eldest, Gideon Jr., born and bapt. of record at Stonington. Their second child, son Elkanah, is not of birth or baptism record at Stonington due to being during the time between the death of Rev. James Noyes and his successor when visiting pastors occasionally supplied the Stonington Church pulpit, but infrequently baptized children during their supply visits.
