Alice Johnson, 82, of Rolfe, died Sunday morning, April 19, at Rolfe Care Center following a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Rolfe, with the Rev. Bruce LeFebvre officiating. Burial was in St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery, Rolfe.

Survivors include daughters, Kay Newman, Emmetsburg, Mary Rapp, Orlando, FL, Alice Freeman, Rolfe, Joyce Smith, Humboldt, and Bonnie Ryen, Story City; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joann Trenary, Russell and Mary Joy Harms, Eldora.

Alice Cronk was born April 14, 1910, at Eldora. At a young age, she moved with her family to the West Bend area. She was educated in Rodman and West Bend schools. In 1929, she married Erling Johnson at Mallard. The couple lived in Graettinger before moving to Rolfe in the late 1930s. She worked at Girard’s Super Valu and Wold’s Hardware and later at Rickard Hardware before retiring in the early 1980s. He died in 1977. She lived in Rolfe until 1985 when she entered the South Care Center in Humboldt. In 1990, she entered the Rolfe Care Center.

She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries, the Sewing Club and the 12-For-Fun Card Club.
