Wayne Spatig Porter, 91, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013.

He was born December 10, 1921 in Glendale, Idaho to Boyd Lewis and Martha Spatig Porter. After graduation from Preston High School in Idaho, he served in the US Army and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a World War II Veteran.

On August 14, 1942, Wayne married MarDean Bennett in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death March 22, 2000. He married LaVona M. Gladden on January 10, 2002 in Ogden, Utah.

After his military service he started various businesses throughout Utah and Idaho; each one was successful.

Wayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in numerous callings.

He had a large phonograph collection and enjoyed coin collecting, wood working and square dancing. It was square dancing that he met his second wife, LaVona. He donated to the Weber State Planetarium, was an avid supporter of the Weber State Athletics and loved the Utah Jazz.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lavona, five children, Caroline (Elbert) Curtis, Beverly Burkin, Jannice Porter, Gwenev're (Kevin) McCarthy, Jeanene Porter, three step-children, Ron Gladden, Randy Gladden, Rhona Boutwell, 18 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren, and one sister, Renae Daniels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, MarDean, three sisters, five brothers, and one grandchild, Raina Bybee.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14th at 11 a.m. at the Kingston Ward Chapel, 1425 Kingston Drive (36th Street and Polk Avenue).

The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Wednesday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Preston Cemetery, Idaho.
