Martha W. Putney was first married, in about 1812, to a man named Wilkinson, in Davidson County, Tenn. She was left a widow with at least one child from that marriage, a daughter named Amelia. In December of 1823 she married Micajah Autry. They had several children, but only two survived to adulthood.
Some time after Micajah died in the Battle of the Alamo in Texas (1836), Martha Autry and her children moved from Tennessee to Marshall County, Mississippi.
