Obituary
DEATH OF DARIUS PRIDE, Esq.
In the list of deaths in this paper will be found the name of another old and valuable citizen or Orange County, Darius Pride, Esq. , late of Williamstown who died at Hopkinton, Mass. on the 14th instant, aged eighty two years. We do not know the date of his coming to Williamstown, but we think it must have been not many years after the first settlement by Judges Paine and Lynde. We remember him for many years as one of the leading men of the town; and especially do we remember him as one of the oldest and most active patrons of this paper, a constant subscriber himself, and very efficient in enlisting the support of his neighbors.
He was a just, conscientious and genial man, zealous of good works, and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him -- one of those good men whose kind and judicious offices are always wanted in times of difficulty, in the settlement of estates and in guidance for the widowed and the fatherless. He will long be remembered as a good and useful man in the community where he dwelt.
