He was a veteran of the Merchant Marine and later spent his life farming and working at Townsend Brothers, Dover, as parts manager and shop manager. He retired in 1987.
Early in his life Mr. Tarburton enjoyed boating and flying as well as water skiing with his family. He was an avid traveler and had visited all 50 states. He also was an ardent duck and deer hunter and loved to the play the organ.
Mr. Tarburton was an active member of the Peoples United Church of Christ, Dover Elks Lodge No. 1903, and had participated with the Meals on Wheels Program with the Modern Maturity Center.
