Bernice Ione Allen
NAMPA - Bernice Ione Allen, 86, of Nampa, died Thursday, Aug.22, 1991, in a Nampa hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:do a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa. The Rev. Kenneth Britt of the Nampa First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Bernice was born March 4, 1905, at Nez Perce, Idaho, a daughter of Leslie and Gertrude Johnson. She married Eddie Clinton Allen on June 9, 1923, at Caldwell. They made their home in and around the Caldwell area. Eddie died April 6, 1975. In 1980, Bernice moved to Nampa where she had since resided. She retired after several years from the Crookham Seed Co., Caldwell, as a field manager.
Bernice was active and held responsible positions in the World War I VFW of Idaho, including department president from 1976-'78 and 1987 '88. She was also a charter member of the Kernette Club, and a member of the Nampa Senior Citizen Center. Bernice was very service-oriiented, and donated several hundreds of hours at the Veterans Hospital in Boise.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elsie Fern and Rudene Perkins of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Clifford Johnson of New Meadows, Idaho; three grandchildren, Sandra Smith, Victoria Lyn Najarian and Ted Perkins; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lester Phillip Allen; five brothers, and three sisters.
