Lindwood served as a Seaman, 2nd Class, U.S. Navy during World War I.

He resided in Harrington, Delaware prior to the war.

Lindwood enlisted in the Navy on April 12, 1917, six days after the United States declared War on Germany, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He was only 15 years of age at the time of his enlistment. He was noted as having a guardian, Walter Pearson, instead of a parent at the time of his enlistment.

Lindwood "Died Of Disease" (Pneumonia) at the Naval Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia during the war.

He was apparently the "First Delawarean" that died during World War I.

His grave was unmarked from the time of his burial until 1935 (18 years) when Earl Sylvester, Commander of American Legion Post #7 in Harrington, DE, requested and secured a headstone for him.

Special thanks to Find A Grave member "Gennie" for finding information on this Delawarean who "Gave His All" !
