Nellie Irene Roe

Nov. 1, 1914 — Dec. 10, 2003

HAYFIELD, Minn. — Nellie Irene Roe, 89, of Hayfield died Wednesday morning, Dec. 10, 2003, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Nellie was born Nov. 1, 1914, the daughter of William and Vera (Kaldenberg) Pitcock in Mitchellville, Iowa. Her family moved to the Waltham, Minn., area where she attended rural schools.
She married Otis Roe in 1937, and they lived at Taopi, Minn., before moving to Missouri, where they lived for 20 years. After Otis died in 1962, Nellie and her children moved to Winona. Nellie worked at Randall's Super Value in Winona for 14 years as a baker in the bakery department. She retired in 1978, and moved to Hayfield. Nellie enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and doing her embroidery work. She moved into Field Crest Care Center in 1999.
Nellie is survived by one daughter, Jolene and husband Leonard Rollins of Hayfield, Minn; one son, Dwight and wife Barbara Roe of Winona, Minn.; one sister, Pearl and husband Joseph Sternhagen of Rose Creek, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Pitcock of St. Charles, Minn.; five grandchildren, Len and wife Lisa Rollins of Plainview, Minn., Heather and husband Kyle Eggler of Waconia, Minn., Greg and wife Pam Roe of Red Wing, Minn., Troy and wife Margaret Roe of Hayfield, Minn., and Heidi and husband Tim Bealer of Quakertown, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Rollins, Jon Rollins, Kristen Eggler, Melanie Eggler, Kelsey Roe, Zackary Roe and Emma Roe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otis Roe; two brothers, William and Tony Pitcock; three sisters, Edna Dennison, Dutch Kiefer and June White; three infant siblings, and one great-granddaughter, Anna Bealer.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church Monday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church of Hayfield, with the Rev.Charlie Talcott officiating.
Interment will be in Le Roy Lutheran Cemetery in Le Roy, Minn.
