TUNIS HENRY KLEIN

Tunis H. Klein of 521 University St., Pella, passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines early Friday morning, September 7, 1956, having attained the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 1 day. Tunis, the son of Gerrit Klein and Henrietta Hessels, was born on a farm near Pella on October 6, 1876. His entire lifetime has been spent in Marion County and Pella, Iowa.

He was married to Carrie Lubberton [Lubberden]. To this union were born two sons, Rev. Harold H. Klein of Long Island, N.Y., and Earl M. Klein of Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Carrie Klein passed away in 1913.

On March 8, 1917, he was united in marriage with Cora Van Veen at Pella. To this union was born one daughter, Ruth Caroline, now Mrs. Lawrence Green of Holland, Mich.

Profession of his faith was made in the First Reformed Church of Pella of which church he was a member at the time of his death.

Surviving beside his wife Cora, sons Rev. Harold and Earl, and daughter Ruth are six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also three brothers: Martin Klein of Pella, Arie Klein of Otley, and Peter Klein of Pella; also a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 10, 1956, with the Rev. Herman J. Ridder and the Rev. A. Haverkamp in charge. Family services were conducted from the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. followed by services from the First Reformed Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in Graceland Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Vernon Roorda, Roy De Wild, Harry Barnes, Dale Coop, Gerrit Vande Geest, and Robert Houser. Miss Katherine De Koning accompanied Mrs. Howard Van Peursem and Mr. Fred Whalley as they sang two numbers, "Trust in Jesus, That is All" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
