Born January 29, 1933 to Elizabeth Roberts Powell and Norris Powell in Beaumont, Texas.
Attended Prairie View A&M for two years before moving to Austin TX. It was there that she met William James Jr. (Bill), and in November of 1954 they were married in Washington, DC. Lucille was a warm, loving wife and mother. She was kind, generous, and would give her last dime to anyone who needed it. She was always there for her children and grand children, and was their biggest cheerleader. She taught them that they could do anything in life if they put their mind to it.

She leaves behind her remaining children Janice Thomas (Charles), Carnette Eigsti (Doug), William (Bill) James III (Marie), and Desmond James, 10 grand children, 6 step grandchildren, 2 great grand children, 3 sisters, and a brother.
