MONTEREY - Elaine Russo Aiello passed away on October 2, 2011 at Carmel Hills Care Center. She was born to Vince and Josephine Russo in Pittsburg, CA. She was the youngest child of four siblings, Neno, Sal (Dody) and Barney. She attended local schools in Pittsburg and later on in Monterey. She married Tommy "Legs" Aiello in Reno in 1945. Their only child, Peter, was born in 1951. Elaine became employed by the local culinary union when she was in her early 30s and remained with the union for 32 years until her retirement. During most of her working years her husband, Tommy, was self-employed as the Monterey Peninsula Dr. Pepper distributor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, in 1989 and her son, Peter, in 1999. She leaves behind two granddaughters, Cherie Mares (Ed) and Amy Aiello. She has four great grandchildren, Edward, Daniel, Zachary and Joshua Mares. She loved music and to play cards. She was an avid crossword puzzle player up to her death. Never one to shy away from any debate, she would honestly give her opinion on any subject. Above all she was an outstanding wife, mother and nanie. Her favorite day of the week was Sunday when she made lunch for her entire family. She also enjoyed having lunch on a weekly basis with her first cousin, Barney Belleci. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to caregiver, Arthur Mares; his sister, Alicia Mares; and Yvonne Williby.
