Charles was born April 29, 1923, in Lake Fork, son of Robert and Opal Ross Burton. He married Marjorie P. Jones on Oct. 6, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include son, Charles M. Burton, Denver, Colo.; brother, Lowell D. "Tony" (Alberta) Burton, Dewitt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
Charles was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, and served in the U.S. Army 262nd Quarter Master Bakery during World War II.
He was a 50-year Mason and an engineer for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 45 years.
