SPC Kurt E. Krout Sr., 43, of Spinnerstown, was killed in action in Iraq on August 6, 2005. He was the husband of Karie S. (Gross) Krout of Lansdale. Born in Huntingdon Valley, he was the son of Ilse M. Krout of Spinnerstown and the late Leidy N. Krout. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a 10-year veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Company A, 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment in Phoenixville. He posthumously received the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was the food department manager for Wal-Mart, Quakertown. Survivors: In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Alicia, 20, of Lansdale; a son, Kurt E. Jr., 19, of Spinnerstown; a daughter, DeAnn M., 14, of Lansdale; a son Leidy M., 12, of Lansdale; three sisters, Shirley Funk of Hazleton, Jane Roberts in Maine, and Bernice Krout of Spinnerstown. Services: will be held 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 16. in C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www.crstrunk.com), 821 W. Broad St., Quakertown. Calling hours will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening and 7:30-7:45 a.m Wednesday, August 17 in the funeral home. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Arlington National Cemetery.
