Roy A. Asher, age 93, of Arkansaw died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.

He was born Nov. 1, 1905, the son of George and Josephine (Risler) Asher. He was born and raised in the Meridean area of Dunn County, rural Durand.

He married Evelyn Borst Aug. 1, 1927, in Laona. They spent most of their married life in and around the Elmwood and Eau Galle communities. He has resided in Arkansaw for the past 20 years.

He is survived by: two daughters, Mary K. Asher of St. Paul and Sara (Howard) McDonough of Durand; four sons, Leroy of Independence, George (Carol) of Marshfield, Patrick (Sharon) of Joliet, Ill., and Michael (Nadine) of Mondovi; 27 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mulheron of Eau Claire.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Evelyn; three sons, Richard, Thomas and Stephen; one daughter, Theresa; four brothers; and seven sisters.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Eau Galle. Rev. Roy Mish officiated. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Farm Hill, rural Elmwood.
