Son of Fate and Jennie (Munson) Goosby. He is aged 4, living with his widowed mother and two brothers, Edward and Charlie in Thomas Co., GA in 1880. He married Susie Grant in Thomas Co. on 9 April 1905.

They were the parents of nine children: Loniey Samuel, John Wesley, Maddie Curry, Charles Thomas, Ollie A., Leroy Booker, Mabel I. Moore, Robert Fate, and a daughter who died at birth. Fate had two brothers, Edward and Charles, a sister Idella Graham and a half-sister, Mary Harris.


The Daily Times (Beaver & Rochester, Pa), 15 July 1944:

"Fate Goosby, 73, Bridge street extension, Beaver Falls, was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a Pennsylvania Railroad train.

The body was found Sunday along the tracks by Walter White, Beaver Falls, who had been picking berries. White summoned Beaver Falls police, who had the body removed to the Powell funeral home, Beaver Falls, where friends will be received after 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held in the Tabernacle Baptist church, Beaver Falls, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Beaver Falls cemetery.

He was a member of the Tabernacle church and had resided in Beaver Falls 22 years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Madie Curry and Miss Mable Goosby, Beaver Falls; six sons, Lonnie and Fate Jr, Detroit; Charles and Leroy, U.S. Army, and John and Ollie, Beaver Falls; a sister, Mrs. Idella Graham, Boston, Ga, a brother Charles, and 13 grandchildren."
