He is survived by his wife Jackie (nee Basler) Michael, daughters Amy Benoist and husband Chris and Jennifer Michael, grandchildren Austin Michael, Dalton and Bailey Benoist, brothers Robert E. Michael, Jr. and wife Patricia of House Springs, Missouri and Richard W. Michael and wife Randie of Lincoln, Alabama.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. During his career as a law enforcement officer he worked with the Creve Coeur and Hillsboro Police Departments, was retired from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department after 25 years and worked at various other security positions in the area. He also was an ordained minister and had served as pastor of the Charter, Horine and Victoria Baptist Churches.
Visitation 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2013 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral services 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Carlston "Red" Berry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Rev. Bruce Valle of DeSoto, Missouri. Interment with full military honors in National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
