Luther Herman was born March 17, 1937 in Soper, Oklahoma to Artie Hern and Frankie McCasland Herman and passed from this life August 8, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Luther graduated from Soper High School and later married Pat Kane on October 2nd, 1965. He was the State Future Farmer of the year in 1956 and was a rancher who was very proud of raising good cattle. He was a member of the Archey Baptist Church in Soper and he enjoyed bluegrass music but the most important thing to him was spending time with his family, especially being a PaPa to his grandchildren.

Luther was preceded in death by his father, Artie Hern Herman; grandson, Cody Herman; brother, Charles Herman and aunt and uncle, Bob and Lillie Herman.

Those loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 47 plus years, Pat Herman of the home; sons, Randall Herman and David Herman and wife Shannon all of Durant; mother, Frankie Herman of Soper; sister, Mary Herman of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Amanda Herman, Callie Herman, Matthew Herman and Tanner Herman; great grandchild, Kasen Adams; nieces, Shanna Burton and husband Larry and Ladonna Arredondo and husband Alex; great nieces and nephews, Zac Covington, Paige Covington, Chas Maynard and Cheyenne Herman; special friend, Joe Thomas and wife Shonda and numerous other family and many dear friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Luther's life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Dustin Stepp, Larry Weaver, Danny Meyer, Ted Meyer, Bill McDonough and Gary Lawson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening August 9, 2013 from 6-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
