Born in North Providence, she was a daughter of the late Herbert A. and Clara (Coates) Barker. She lived in Smithfield for three years, previously living in North Providence.
Ms. Barker worked for the Providence Journal for 44 years, retiring as assistant treasurer in 1978.
She was a 1933 graduate of Brown University.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Pembroke Club of Providence, and Hamilton House of Providence.
