His obituary was on the front page of the Windsor, Colorado newspaper on Thursday, November 18, 1915. Headline was L. S. Springer dies suddenly in California. He is buried in the Windsor, Colorado cemetary. Quote from his obituary "The deceased was one of the pioneers of Greeley and of the Windsor district. He came to Greeley with the colony in May of 1870 and after a residence of but tow years at that place, he moved to a homestead here. After 34 years residence here, Mr Springer disposed of his farm and with his wife moved back to their native state, making their home in West Remont, Maine. The body is expect to arrive on the evening train today and the funeral will be held from the Methodist church tomorrow-Friday- at 1:30 o'clock p.m. M. H. Laybourn has charge of the funeral arrangements." The Poudre Valley Number 29
