Phillip Frazier Gills, 84, of Coal City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, 8 Dec 2007, at the VA Hospital, Beckley.

Born 26 May 1923, at Walkertown, WV, he was the son of the late John Thomas Gills and Chloe Cole Gills.

Mr. Gills served his country proudly during World War II, he was a longtime member of the Coal City Community Church, and he owned and operated the Coal City Barber Shop. He also played and loved bluegrass music and won several fiddle competitions in the state of West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gills was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Meadows Gills; brother, Grady Gills; and a sister, Eva Gills Cummings.

He was survived by his sister, Bonnie Gills Cole of South Carolina; two daughters, Vicki Gills Nelson and husband, David, of Coal City and Stephanie Gills Holland and husband, Kenny, of Nashville, Tenn. He will be sadly missed by his two loving daughters.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Arista Nelson Wise, Christina Nelson Reed, Dustin Nelson, Kaden Slade Holland, Kristen Holland, and Keeley Holland; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Wise, Caitlin Wise, Gracie Wise, Mary Katherine Reed, Harleigh Reed, and Nikki Wise.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, 11 Dec 2007, at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia. Burial will follow at Meadows Family Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Tankersly officiating.

Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
