Bruce Marlon Henry Jr., 77, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the loving husband of Gina L. Henry for 30 years. Born November 14, 1935, in Shippensburg, Penn., he was the son of the late Bruce M. Henry Sr. and Edna Pogue Henry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Conner. Bruce proudly served his country and was a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret with 21 years of service. He also was a retired Training Supervisor with the Department of Defense with 20 years of service and a member of Forest Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory two children, Jacqueline E. Henry of Ashland and Sean M. Henry and wife, Bethany, of Lynchburg; and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Bruce's Life and Faith will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Forest Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia at 2 p.m. with military honors. The family will receive friends for one hour starting at 10 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
