Daughter of John & Harriet George.

Moved to Detroit Michigan at the age of 3y with her parents. Later moved to Grass Lake Jackson Co Michigan. Her best friend was Polly Ann Osgood (daughter of Leonard Osgood who later became Adele's step-father). Lived on the farm until her father's death in 1844/46, when they moved to Jackson Michigan and did sewing to pay the bills. She met Almena Knight (Mrs John Jay Borden), also deaf who had been schooled in Ohio and was the reason Adele went to school. Adele was in one of the first classes at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint Genesee Co Michigan until she became ill (lost sight in one eye) and had to leave the school. Lost their house and Adele wrote her life story in pamplets to sell on street corners.
