Since Isaac's name appears first in his fathers will it is possible his birth year was about 1820 and his name could be Isaac Joseph. Isaacs birth year source of 1823 is unknown.
Tradition has it that Isaac left Kentucky for Louisiana because there were too many cousins of marriage age in Kentucky and he should look elsewhere for a wife.
The following from New Orleans Daily Delta newspaper, Thursday 8 April 1847, P2 C.6:
"On Tuesday morning {6 April} -- married -- by the Rev Mr Conway at St Patricks Cathedral, New Orleans, Isaac Bowman M. D. to Miss Eveline, daughter of Wm. Rochelle Sr. all of the parish of St. Mary, La."
His plantation was below Pattersonville, LA on the left bank of the Atchafalaya with two places separating his and Wm Rochelle Jr and not too far from William Jacobs place which was on the Right bank below Isaac's.
He married Eveline Rochelle [Mrs (Dr) Isaac Bowman] (5), 6 Apr 1847, in St Patricks Ch, New Orleans.
{It became the parish church of choice for Toby & Anna Jobes}
They lived not far from a community established by a Captain Patterson about mid 1830's with lumber mill - first Catholic Church 1848. It is conjecture that Dr Isaac was buried here 1858 in the Catholic church cemetery {now called St Joseph's} although no stone or confirmation has been found.
