Russell "Rusty" Julius Barker, 45, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at his home in Denham Springs. He was a loving and devoted son to his mother Rosie Mae Barker. He is preceded in death by his father James Edward Barker, an Aunt Annie Ruth Disspayne and cousin Robin Disspayne. Following the death of his father, Rusty devoted the remaining fourteen years of his life to the care of his beloved mother. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Astros. Music captured Rusty's heart at an early age and was talented on a number of musical instruments. He was a proud former member of the Denham Springs High School Marching Band. His favorite instrument was the saxophone and he enjoyed playing for family and friends. He is survived by his mother Rosie Barker, a sister Elizabeth Barker Wray and her husband Tony Wray, a brother James David Barker and his wife Flo Barker, an aunt, Geneva Smith and uncle, Delmas Cooper Forbes, Sr. and his wife Barbara, nephews, Michael Barker, Scott Barker and Anthony Wray, nieces Dawn Dixon, Harper Mumford and Eleanor Wray, cousins Christopher Disspayne , Delmas Forbes, Jr., Randy Forbes, Kathy Wray and Danny Smith, great nieces and nephews Victoria and Glynn Burr, Sawyer and Blythe Mumford, Sadie Barker and other relatives and close friends. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Thursday, August 8, 2013 beginning at 9:00am. Bro. Merlin McCon will conduct funeral services in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Wray, Scott and Michael Barker, Marty Burkes, Greg Kimble and Delmas Forbes.
