GREEN SULPHUR SPRINGS — Danny Ray Bennett, 60, of Green Sulphur Springs passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in the CAMC General Hospital in Charleston following a short illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1950, at Sandstone, he was the son of Margie Davis Bennett of Hinton and the late David Lacy Bennett.

Danny was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Lick Creek Baptist Church in Green Sulphur Springs. He loved spending time with his two grandsons and playing his banjo. He is also survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlotte Wyant Bennett; two sons, Steven Bennett and wife Heather of Springdale, Joey Bennett and wife Michelle of Danese; two grandsons, Tanner of Springdale and Blake of Danese; one sister, Jo Ellen Bennett Zickafoose of Lincoln Park, Michigan; two brothers, Darrell of Meadow Bridge and Ronnie of Hinton; his two dogs, Maggie and Sky.

Service will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Lick Creek Baptist Church in Green Sulphur Springs with Pastor Bob Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Halidan Cemetery in Green Sulphur Springs. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be James Withrow, Larry Crane, Timbo Vandall, Harvey Bryant, Roy Richmond and Gary Bragg.
