Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Clifford Kenneth Hansen was born Dec. 30, 1916 in a farm home west of Blair to Hans P. M. and Annie (Nelson) Hansen.

He was baptized at First Lutheran Church on July 15, 1917 and confirmed on May 15, 1932. He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran. He attended Brewster School and graduated from Blair High School in 1934.

He later served on the Brewster School Board for many years when his daughters were in school there.

He lived on the family farm from the age of 2, until retiring from farming on Jan. 1, 1981. He eventually moved into Blair in 2000.

He proudly served in WWII in the United States Army Air Force from June 13, 1942 to Oct. 13, 1945. He was an airplane mechanic with the 9th Airborne Squadron, and served in England, France, Luxemburg and Germany.

After returning from the war in October of 1945, he married Anna Veola Schjodt on Sept. 8, 1946, in Blair. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage in September 2007. They lovingly raised their three daughters on the farm. Mr. Hansen’s family and the farm were his life and he proudly took care of both throughout all of his life. He was a wonderful devoted loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Veola; daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Peterson of Portland, Ore.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eulella “Lou” and Hubert Peterson of Fremont; Harald and Rhoda Schjodt of Blair; Rose DeLaCastro of Omaha; Vern Hundtofte of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister; brothers-in-law, Paul Peterson and John DeLaCastro; and sister-in-law, Carol (Schjodt) Hundtofte.
