Steven Allen Proudman, AMS1, USN (Ret), age 56, longtime Oak Harbor resident, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Providence Medical Center, Colby Campus, Everett, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Proudman was born in Boston. MA, on September 1, 1956, to William Proudman, Jr., and Pauline (Snyder) Proudman. Steven moved with his family to Rockland, MA, in 1961. He attended schools there, graduating from South Shore Vocational School in 1974. He was employed as an autobody technician after high school until joining the United States Navy. Steven proudly served his country for twenty years, retiring as an AMS1 in 1996.
On June 25, 1982, Steven married Erlinda Bertuldo in Olangapo City, Philippines. The couple resided in Lemoore, CA, before moving to Oak Harbor, in 1990. Steven was an ardent sports fan, and had a particular loyalty to the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother, who always looked out for his family. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his wife Erlinda, in Oak Harbor; his daughter and son-in-law Cherry and Ken Delano of Oak Harbor; his step-son, Harold Bertuldo and wife Cherry-Reyes of Oak Harbor; his five grandchildren, Sherrylyn Filoteo of San Francisco, CA, Catherine Filoteo of Edmonds, Krisanta Filoteo of Oak Harbor, Matayah and Malia Delano, both of Oak Harbor; three brothers, Paul Proudman and wife Carolyn of Hanson, MA, William Proudman and wife Joanne of Ypsilanti, MI and Joseph Proudman and wife Linda of Lemoore, CA; his sister, Donna Proudman, also of Lemoore. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Proudman on Nov. 16, 1997 and by his father, William Proudman, Jr., on July 11, 2000.
