Leonard "Jack" F. James, 87, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Friday, August 2, 2013 from his home while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 27, 1926 in Duplin County; the son of the late Frank and Helen Elizabeth Bland James. He was predeceased by his sons, Charles Franklin "Frankie" James, Leonard Darrell James and Chester Allen James and his brother, Ray James.

Surviving is his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Hannah Isabelle Smith James; his son, Steven James and wife, Jane of LaVale, Maryland; daughters, Linda Lee James and Jaclyn "Jackie" James, also of Maryland; grandchildren, Sharon, Matthew, Scottie and Chentell; great grandchildren, Scottie and Breanna; brother, Henry James of Tarboro, sister, Shirley James of Maryland and numerous friends who loved Jack dearly.

Jack was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. With a gentle spirit and loving nature, Jack cared about others more than himself and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. He will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Jack James.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Rodney Bonham officiating.

Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
