Danny Nelson O'Neal, 65, of 12612 NC Hwy 96, passed away on August 1, 2013. Danny was born in Wake County on March 26, 1948, to Rosa Lee Congleton O'Neal and the late James Nelson O'Neal. He graduated from Corinth Holder High School in June 1966, and on September 18, 1966, he married the love of his life, Carol Eason O'Neal. Danny retired with 30 years of service as a correctional officer with NC Department of Corrections serving for 18 years at Central Prison and 12 years at Nash Correctional Institute. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. After retirement, Danny was devoted to the care of his late father, Nelson, his mother, Rosa Lee, and extended family. Danny was so genuine in the love and care of his family, friends, and his loyal companions, Jack and Jill and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Corinth Baptist Church, 13450 NC Hwy 96, Zebulon, NC 27597, with Reverend Will Abernethy and Reverend Glen Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Eason O'Neal; son, Michael Nelson O'Neal and wife, Jeany of Wendell; a granddaughter, Lauren Makenzie O'Neal; mother, Rosa Lee Congleton O'Neal of Zebulon; sisters: Susie O. Peoples and husband, Mike of Zebulon and Sandra O. Temple and husband, Terry of Wendell; a host of special friends, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins on the O'Neal and Eason sides of the family.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund for the care of the cemetery.
