Wanda L. Bowman, age 83, died Sun., Aug. 4, 2013 at her home in Clyde, KS. She was born on Sept. 6, 1929 in Rural Washington Co., KS to Russell P. & Frances I. (Ryser) Hicks.
Wanda graduated from Agenda High School in 1947. She received a teaching certificate from K-State and taught for 2 years until she married Loren C. Bowman on Sept. 6, 1949 in Hollis, KS.
Wanda was a homemaker and helped Loren on the farm. After her children were grown, she worked as a cook, then at the Clyde Vet Clinic & at the Clyde Post Office until she was no longer able to work. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clyde. She enjoyed playing cards and was a part of several card parties & clubs. Wanda was always keeping herself busy with cooking, sewing, crocheting & a host of other activities.
She is survived by her husband, Loren, Clyde; sons, Larry & wife Mary, Rural Agenda, Marc & wife Paulette, Park City, UT, Doug & wife Liz, Montrose, CO & Steve & wife Nikki, Riley; daughter, Peg Feldt & husband Dan, Springfield, MO; sisters, Cleora McClaskey & husband John, McPherson & Priscilla Phillips, Salina; brother, Kenneth Hicks & wife JoAnn, Marion, TX; sisters in law, Ruth Hicks, Agenda & Diane Hicks, Brookville; 12 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents & brothers, Dean Hicks & George Hicks.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Fri., Aug. 9, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Clyde, KS with Rev. Anita Strommen officiating. Burial will follow the services at Hollis Cemetery, Hollis. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Thurs. with the family greeting friends from 6-8 pm all at the church. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
