Peter R. Briggs, 61, of Bristol, husband of Beverly (Simpson) Briggs, died August 4, 2005 in Courtland Hills, OH. Peter was born in New Bedford, MA on December 4, 1943 and was a son of the late Harold and Annette (Gladeau) Briggs. He resided in Bristol most of his life and served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Sitkin during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an over the road truck driver for more than 35 years, a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol, and a member of the American Legion Seicheprey Post #2, Bristol. In addition to his loving wife Beverly, Peter is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Diane Briggs of Berlin, Jody Briggs of Bristol, and Peter A. and Amanda Briggs of South Windsor; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laura Poitras, and Melissa and Michael O'Keefe all of Bristol; a stepson, Daniel and his wife Terri Simpson of Plainville; a brother, James Briggs of Bristol; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Doris Pelletier. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
