Story #143 Correll The Arvin H. & Alma I. (Sutton) Correll Familyby Lois Anna Tyson Arvin Heberling Correll the first child of John and South Carolina Correll was born Oct. 6, 1888. His mother died when he was about 11 years old and his father died two years later. Arvin attended school at Rock Creek, Dist #40, until the end of the third grade. He started working out after the death of his death of his parents. He stayed for awhile with his Grandpa Correll. He then went to work for Jim Sutton, Charles Wiley, Clarence Wilson and Charley Evertson. He spent several summers in the harvest field at La Crosse, Ks. On Oct. 17, 1918, Arvin married Alma Irena Sutton at Ottawa, Ks. Alma was born Dec. 16, 1895, at Maxson, Ks. Alma taught three years at Great Bend, Kansas, and two years in her home school, Maxson, Dist. #47. It was while she was teaching at Maxson that she married Arvin. Arvin was a farmer. He passed away Oct. 12, 1965. Alma lives in Melvern. Arvin and Alma had no children but opened their doors wide to their niece, Lois Anna Hile when her parents both passed away. They also cared for other children some that lost their mother or from a broken home.
