He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Seneca Rocks and was a son of the late Byron Stanley Bland and Erma (Harper) Bland.
Mr. Bland was owner of Valley Neon Sigh Company Company in Harrisonburg, Va., for several years and was a life member of Hose Company No. 4 in Harrisonburg, Va. He was maintenance supervison for Aristocrat Nursing Home in Parma, Ohio and retired in 1987.
He served in the US Merchant Marines Corps during World War II and was a member of Seneca Rocks Presbyterian Church.
On july 14, 1951, he married Genevieve (Arbogast) Bland, who suevives.
Also surviving are one son, Thomas L. Bland II of Palm Coast, Fl; three sisters, ShirleyYokum of Seneca Rocks, Judith Sponaugle of Knoxville, Tn., and Billie Tubaugh of Des Moines, Ia.; and one brother, Bryon S. Bland Jr., of Seneca Rocks.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Harper Bland.
A graveside service was held July 24, 2013 at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, in Riverton with Rev. Will Vaus officating, and military rites were accorded by the Pendelton County Veterans Honor Guard.
