Martha C. Garris, 80, of Fawn Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at her granddaughter's home. Martha was born in Brackenridge, May 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Helen Weinel and William Deininger. She was the widow of Jacob W. Garris, who passed in 1987. Martha began her career in the offices at PPG Industries, Creighton. She had worked for many years at Georgia Manor in Brackenridge and for St. Barnabas Health System in Gibsonia. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Martha, above all, loved spending time with her great-grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Jeffrey Garris, of Freeport, and Marsha and Keith "Al" Furlong, of Freeport; her three grandchildren, Katie and Sean Warren, with whom she lived and who were her caretakers, and Wayne "Bud" Walker and Greg Walker; four great-grandchildren, Joey, Page, Nathan and Mylazia; four stepgrandchildren, Sean and Lisa Furlong, Kierston and Matt Demharter, Adam Furlong and Juelie Furlong; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Alyssa, Sean, Dakota, Samantha, AJ and Aaron; her brother, William Jr. and Jean Deininger, of Tipton; her sister, Barbara and Walter Frederick, of Leechburg; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Garris, of Brackenridge. Martha is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral service will be held following the viewing hours at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Philip A. Beck officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
